Here are some of the programs that helped us create the Parrot Parrot web site as well as our other sites.

Paint Shop Pro 6 ($49.99 after the manufacturer's mail-in rebate of $30.00) is the most wonderful, easy-to-use graphics program I have found.  The animated title on this page was made in less than 10 minutes using Paint Shop Pro! The price is unbeatable for a program with the capabilities of this one. The animation program is one of the best in my opinion because you can really compress the size for a fast-loading animation. I used this to make the animation on the main lovebird page, the email animation on the contents page (lovebirds fighting over email), and for the baby on the top of the babies page.  I used the main graphics program to create the background on my senegal's page and for the backgrounds on almost every page that has one.  I also created three fun animations for a friend's page. It takes about a week to get the hang of the tools, but once you get going, you'll definitely be addicted. You'll especially love making all the cool buttons like those at my graphics site (the easiest buttonmaker EVER), like the "I-gotta-get-it" one you're gonna press now to buy this excellent program!

Macromedia's Dreamweaver ($279) is THE software for professional website designers. Extremely easy to use and it does not have the drawbacks of many other programs (many of which will mess with your custom codes for mailing lists, java scripting etc.). It is one of the most versatile web page programs around. You can instantly switch from wysiwyg view to html view to tags viewing, then you can switch to preview and see exactly how your page will look once you upload it to the WWW.  Even beginners will find the intuitive interface easy to learn.

This huge ClickArt Collection has been invaluable! Some of my bird buttons at my graphics site are based on these public-domain images. There are graphics in jpg, gif, bmp, and other formats available for just about any topic you can imagine, from animals to zoology, from astronomy to zen buddhism ;-)

Macromedia Flash 4 ($264.99).  This is the future of web design. If you've been to sites that use Macromedia Flash graphics you know just how slick and amazing they are, with sound effects, sliding images, and other dramatic multimedia effects.  A very, very cool program for creating menus and other interactive features.
